Downtown Trolley promotes the return of historic streetcars to downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The Transport 2020 Committee, which has been reviewing transit needs in the greater Madison area, has recommended that a circulator streetcar system be built to serve the Downtown and State Street area. The Transport 2020 Committee recommended in 2003 that a streetcar system be included in Phase II of The Transport 2020 Project. This streetcar system would extend from Union South to Ingersoll Street, providing rail commuters and Downtown residents with easy access to all major venues in Greater Downtown Madison. The Transport 2020 Implementation Committee is now developing a more detailed proposal. In addition, Mayor Cieslewicz supports an expanded system that would serve residential neighborhoods.

The Friends of Troy Gardens is a non-profit organization responsible for the development and stewardship of 26 acres of open space known as Troy Gardens on Madison's north side. The land includes community gardens, youth and demonstration gardens, a CSA farm, woodland and prairie restoration, wheel chair accessible garden beds, an edible landscape, and nature trails. On five additional acres adjacent to open space area, the Madison Area Community Land Trust will be building 30 units of affordable cohousing. Friends of Troy Gardens sponsors youth gardening programs, a high school horticulture job training program, gardening and farming workshops, a natural areas restoration stewards program, college internships, volunteer activities, and neighborhood-based social activities on the land. We are run by a volunteer board of directors, and welcome community participation in all aspects of our programs.

Friends of Yahara River Parkway is a community group committed to preserving and enhancing the ecological, cultural and
historical heritage of the Yahara River Parkway along with Tenney Park and Burr Jones Field on the near east side of Madison.
We are committed to advocating for the restoration and improvement of the Parkway, including the construction of bike and pedestrian
paths with safe crossings of the major streets that transverse the river. We organize voluntary efforts to restore the historic
landscape design of the Parkway, sponsor educational events, and do our best to keep folks informed of various initiatives that
will impact the park. We get together every first and third Saturday for work parties: call or email for the location.
