Eco-Film Pick of the Week

Sustain Dane has teamed up with Four Star Video to provide a weekly Eco-Movie. It is a fun way we dreamed up to provide some education about contemporary environmental issues, and to work with a fine, locally-owned businesses.
This week's selection: Richard Linklater's 2006 adaption of the book, "Fast Food Nation." It is not a perfect movie, but it is certainly an engaging and clever story about, obviously, fast food joints. The story moves forward exposing damaging and strange business practices, and also unfolds with characters awakening to their own moral challenges. Like the book, the movie is, at times, preachy. A straight adaptation of the journalism from the book would have seemed redundent. Instead, Linklater's clever filmmaking - and quality acting from the likes of Kris Kristofferson and Bruce Willis - provides a captivating, appropriately Hollywood touch.
