Introducing our new Executive Director

Please welcome Claire Oleksiak to the Sustain Dane team! We are happy to announce that as of May 29, 2019 Sustain Dane will welcome a new Executive Director, Claire Oleksiak. Serving in this role, Claire is responsible for overall operations, management, asset protection and public relations for Sustain Dane.

Claire is passionate about innovation, social impact, sustainable communities, economic development and collaboration. Prior to joining Sustain Dane, she worked as the Community Services Manager for the City of Madison Parks Division. In that role, she facilitated partnerships with public and private organizations, managed community facilities, and implemented the Connecting Children to Nature Initiative with funding from the National League of Cities.

Claire previously lived and worked in Washington, DC for ten years. She held positions as the Executive Director of the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District and Deputy Executive Director of the Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District and Yards Park LLC. Claire coordinated the design and implementation of strategic work program initiatives focused on community and economic development. She has held multiple board positions and presented on topics related to urban planning, transportation, parks, business attraction and public place making.

Claire is a native of Madison and a graduate of West High School. She received her BA from Cornell University in Sociology and earned a MS from Oxford University in International Relations-Forced Migration.
