Earth Month

Happy Earth Month! Earth Day is approaching on Sunday, April 22. At Sustain Dane, we’re celebrating all month!

Sustain Dane is the sustainability organization of Dane County. We believe change happens when inspired people take action. Sustain Dane partners with sustainability champions who want transform Dane County into a healthy, thriving place for everyone.

Earth Day is about protecting our water, land and air. Earth Day has its roots in our own community. The holiday was started in Madison, Wisconsin by Senator Gaylord Nelson in spring 1970 as a way to push environmental issues to the forefront of the political agenda. Learn more about the history of Earth Day here.

For Sustain Dane, Earth Day is also about celebrating the people who love our planet - people who take actions, big and small, to make our earth a better place.

Earth Day is about celebrating people like you! This month, people like you will unite around a vision for a healthier planet. At Sustain Dane, we work toward this vision all year round.
