Neighborhood Sustainability Expos

In April 2012, Sustain Dane helped residents in the Nakoma neighborhood host a “Sustainability Expo.” The event was held at one resident’s home; various rooms were transformed into classrooms: the living room hosted a master composter, providing tips; the dining room had an on-going seminar teaching about energy conservation; and the backyard was an open-air, hands-on classroom for better gardening. More than 60 residents attended, each picking up tips and customized plans to move their lifestyles forward towards being more sustainable.

Sustain Dane is offering this service to other neighborhoods: We are helping residents organize “Sustainability Expo Fairs” in their own communities!

What would you like to learn about? Bike repair? Chicken coops? Canning and jarring? Household energy conservation? How do you envision helping your neighborhood become more sustainable?

Sustain Dane is now accepting applications for Spring 2013. To apply to be the next neighborhood to host a Sustain Dane Sustainability Expo, please fill out the attached form...
