Recycle Better
Have you ever paused at the recycling bin and wondered if what you’re throwing out is actually recyclable, or what will happen to it after it’s picked up? Then our award-winning Recycle Better program is made for you (formerly Master Recycler).
We developed this program in partnership with the City of Madison. The program will give you the tools you need to teach your family, neighbors, friends, and coworkers how to improve recycling and community sustainability. Each session has two 90-minute classes which together enable you to become a Recycling Steward.
This program is part of our broader efforts for better recycling in the region. Read fun facts and learn how to recycle better.

Bilingual Leadership Academy
The Latino Academy of Workforce Development (LAWD) and Sustain Dane collaborated to expand our Recycle Better program. This version is presented in Spanish and English and is culturally relevant to the Latinx community. There are 21 certified Recycling Stewards from the LAWD Bilingual Leadership Program that have directly reached 200+ Spanish-speaking individuals through their outreach projects. The participants also share their knowledge on local Spanish-language radio station La Movida, which reached over 1,000 listeners.
