I’ve been buying local produce and subscribing to a CSA (community supported agriculture) for many years, along with building my gardening skills. The next steps for me are: 1) to be more intentional about teaching my teenage children to cook so they bring that knowledge to adulthood; 2) plan my backyard garden around things we love to eat, and; 3) contributing more to efforts to make local produce accessible to households who otherwise might not be able to afford it. There are various places taking donations, such as Madison Community Fridges, and local farms who donate a portion of their CSA to food insecure households.
