Sustain Dane recently met with team members from Everlight Solar to hear their sustainability story. Everlight Solar prioritizes sustainable practices in its business model. Of their more than 230 full-time staff, around 50% of them work remotely. Eliminating those commutes to work each day reduces their transportation-related emissions. Additionally, many staff members are provided with electric cars.
Recently, Everlight Solar expanded its community education work by teaching Savanna Oaks Middle School students the importance of solar energy and planting trees alongside each other on school grounds. They also award several annual Clean Energy Scholarships to provide funding for university students who focus their education on renewable energy and climate change.
In 2022, Everlight won the Comparably Best Company Outlook Award for their support of employee well-being. This award measures how confident employees feel about their company’s future success, how likely they are to recommend working there to a friend, and how excited they are to work. Through many internal clubs covering areas such as exercise, cooking, personal finance, books, and the recent addition of a green team, they make sure to engage staff and cultivate an inclusive and fun culture.
In 2021, Everlight put up 532 solar installations in Dane County, representing 4 megawatts! Everlight aims to expand solar throughout the community. Assuming solar is a good fit for a home, the consumer pays zero out-of-pocket upfront. Essentially, the customer shifts what they are currently paying for power to cover the cost of solar energy. One unique thing about Everlight Solar is that their team installs solar systems year-round! Furthermore, the company can install an entire home solar system in a few hours! “I often know what area our team is installing in because I get calls from possible customers saying they ‘went to get a cup of coffee and run errands, and by the time they got back, their neighbor’s solar panels were installed,” said an Everlight staff member.
Additionally, Everlight ensures they’re available for consultation over the entire lifespan of the panel. With a recent increase in the national solar tax break from 26% to 30%, they say it’s better than ever to go solar this year.
Everlight Solar is proud of its Dane County roots. Headquartered in Verona, they are the largest and fastest-growing home solar company in the Midwest. They are incredibly excited to be a community member, helping more homeowners switch to solar. As they look towards the future, it’s clear that Dane County is a springboard in the green energy movement. With work from companies like Sustain Dane, this county is proving to be a leader in the solar industry and the possibility of solar for the midwest. Everlight strives to make the switch to solar, and our cleaner future, as seamless as possible. ❖
